Spencer Cecil Carpenter (1877-1959), Dean of Exeter 1935-1950.

Arthur Huxley Thompson (Archdeacon of Exeter 1930-1951), known as Huxley Thompson (1872-1951). He was a Canon residentiary from 1930, and Treasurer from 1939. He succeeded William Surtees when he became Bishop of Crediton. It was not unusual to hold a Chapter position and be Archdeacon of Exeter (Arthur Ward was both Precentor and Archdeacon, 1970-1981).
